Situated on one of the busiest roads of London-the Kensington road, this five star hotel started operations in the 1920s. Its name is inspired from an old iron milestone and includes three Victorian era townhouses that overlook the Kensington Park.

About the Boutique Hotel

There are 57 bedrooms spread over five floors along with six apartments. Also present is a Victorian style common sitting lounge. The general décor, true to its Red Carnations brand, is done generously with elaborate fabrics, carpets, patterned walls, paintings etc. The furniture is old fashioned with a lot of carvings on them. All rooms have been equipped with amenities lavishly and include TV, AC, a work desk, DVD player, and mini bar among others. The staff is a pleasant lot and has generally received very nice reviews. They take care of the nitty-gritty with the help of a guest preference form which the guests are to fill in advance. This is a very pro-active way of catering to the guests’ needs and makes you feel pampered. The hotel also provides an indoor pool, sauna, spa, massage, Jacuzzi, free internet, laundry, fitness center, and bar among others. Pets are allowed with extra charges and prior intimation. Parking invites an extra charge of GBP 48 per day.

The idea is to make you feel you have been transported back to the Victorian ages and so the persona of the waiters has been molded to make you feel exactly so. They are old school and give a lot of personal attention to the guests.

The Cheneston’s Restaurant is very lavishly decorated with ribbons and silk. The food is delicious and you would prefer dining-in any day. Small things like having multiple types of butter and salt on the table increases the fulsome feeling and makes you feel like royalty! Also, there is a bar which offers a wide range of wines. You can also sit in the lounge and enjoy a cup of coffee or have cocktails in the conservatory.

Transportation and Sightseeing

The hotel is very close to the Royal Albert Hall and the Hyde Park. The location is ideal for sightseeing and shopping both. There are options like the Kensington Palace, Baden-Powell House, all within one km while the Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Trafalgar Square, Wembley stadium are all within five-eight km.

The Harrods store is a mere ten minutes walk. There is also a supermarket right across the hotel and the Portobello road market about ten minutes away. This ensures you have adequate supplies of essentials. The Oxford street is a shopping delight along with the Regent’s Street, King’s road etc.

The location is near the Kensington Palace and hence there are a lot of options for transport. The Paddington Station is a short taxi ride from the hotel and connects you to Central London. Buses too are available in plenty.
