This four-star luxury is very close to Ponte Vecchio. It is owned by the Ferragamo family and was designed by the famous architect Michele Bonan with artwork from the early part of the 20th Century. It was ranked No. 8 in Top Hotels in Florence by the Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards 2016.

About the Luxury Hotel

It boasts of 73 guest rooms spread over 8 floors. The room type varies depending on the number of people, and ranges from the Deluxe Arno River Room meant for two people to the Presidential Suite ideal for five. The rooms are equipped with free Wi-Fi, TV, AC, heating, safety deposit box, work desk, extra linens etc. The bathrooms are modern with marble tiles and boast of toiletries from Salvatore Ferragamo.

The major theme is different shades of yellow and ivory throughout the hotel and furnishing includes paintings by Picasso and Cocteau. The rooms have a different theme depending on the type. For instance, while the Relaxing Room has tones of beige, white and blue with fluffy beds, the Studio Arno River View room has a great river view and lots of original art.

Hotel Services

It is also used for hosting business meetings and has separate rooms for that. There is an in-house restaurant called the Borgo San Jacopo which has found a place in many restaurant guides due to its excellent and creative cuisines. The lounge/bar is sophisticated- decorated with antique furniture and paintings and a fireplace. It offers cocktails, herbal teas, chocolates, champagne among other things and provides a view of the River Arno. Parking is available at 35 Euros per day. Golfing facility too is available for recreation. The hotel also allows pets without any extra charges but prior request has to be made to cater to their needs.

Transportation and Sightseeing

There are many places of interest around the hotel like the Ponte Vecchio or the Old Bridge which was first built in 1st century AD and has been reconstructed a number of times. It was the only bridge across the Arno that the retreating Germans left intact during WWII and is now famous for its jewellery stalls. The Via Maggio street has a very rich history and boasts of a number of palaces like the Palazzo Ridolfi Zanchini, Palazzo of Bianca Cappello, Palazzo Biliotti etc. The Pitti Palace has to be mentioned here as this was the place Napoleon used as his base in the 18th century and it also served as the main palace for the newly united Italy. It is now the largest museum in Florence. No visit to Florence is complete without a visit to the Santa Maria Novella– the first great Church in Florence. For the shopping freak in you, visit the Sant’Ambrogio market and the Mall luxury Outlet.

The Florence airport is located 8 km from the hotel and there is an airport shuttle for the guests’ convenience (for a fee). The railway train station is 10 mins from it. Also, due to its location being right in the middle of Florence, there are no dearth of taxis and buses.
