If you grew bored of ordinary chain hotels, small luxury hotels, boutique hotels and inns, and want something different, then you need to take into consideration the hotels on our list. These 15 hotels are nothing like the hotels you usually stay at. These are not just plainly different, they are much more creative.

Ice Hotel Sweden

The ICEHOTEL in Jukkasjarvi, near the city of Kiruna is the first ice hotel in the world. Various artists and designers build it every year in November, from almost 150,000 tons of ice and snow. The ICEHOTEL Sweden operates from December till the last day of March each year and welcomes thousands of guests in over 100 rooms and suites.

Capsule Hotel Den Haag, Netherlands

This hotel is actually a group of oil rig survival pods, docked in the river flowing through the city center. The pods are small in size, but offer as much as commodity as possible. The biggest luxury is the Capsule Hotel is silk sleeping bag that comes with deluxe package.

Conrad Hilton, Maldives

Conrad Maldives Rangali Island is a luxury resort with luxury villas on an island in the middle of the Indian Ocean. The villas are luxuriously equipped with all that a guest need, but the thing that separates the Conrad Hilton from other similar resorts are revolving beds that follow the Sun. Still, the Conrad Hilton Maldives is famous around the world is its underwater restaurant. The submarine wine cellar has over 20 thousand bottles. There is also a high-end restaurant under water, named Ithaa.

The Giraffe Manor, Nairobi, Kenya

Based on the design of traditional Scottish hunting lodge and built in 1932, the Giraffe Manor is one of the most popular hotels in Africa. It is located in Nairobi, with a view of the Mountain Kilimanjaro. All of this wouldn’t be anything too special, but the fact that a bunch of giraffes live on the hotel premises makes the Giraffe Manor one of the most unique hotels in the world. They were allowed in the hotel when they lost their natural habitat and since have become accustomed to tourists. It is no surprise that hotel guests hand-feed giraffes through the windows.

Karostas Cietums Hotel in Liepaja, Latvia

After the collapse of the Soviet Union, a prison in Latvia was dismissed and a hotel was set instead. The Karostas Citeums Hotel rooms used to be prison cells before 1990s. The hotel owners didn’t want to delete the history of this place by rebuilding and redesigning it. Instead, the Karostas Citeums hotel design is the same as it was a few decades ago.

Propeller Island City Lodge in Berlin, Germany

For some this hotel is coming straight from a nightmare, while some think of it as a product of psychedelic dream. Nevertheless, the fact is that the Propeller Island City Lodge is designed entirely by the artist Lars Stroschen. Every room is different and some of the most “trippy” ones are the upside down room, the room with coffins, the room with beds hanging from the ceiling, etc.

Das Park Hotel in Ottensheim, Austria

Another hotel designed by a controversial artist is Das Park Hotel in Austrian city called Ottesheim. As its name hints, the hotel is located in a park. Das Park Hotel is made entirely of concrete sewer tubes. Actually, the hotel rooms are those tubes. Guests stay inside of them, from May to October. The concrete makes the tubes remain cold even during the hottest summer months, which is why many guests chose it as summer retreat.

Capsule Hotel, Tokyo

The Shinjuku Kuyakusho-mae Capsule Hotel is situated in the Shinjuku area of Tokyo, and unlike most of the hotels on the list, this is a 1-star hotel. The name of the hotel says it all – guests spend the night in capsules and that’s it. The rooms are capsules with only a small sleeping area, so don’t expect TVs or iPod docks here. Instead, the only purpose of the Capsule hotel is to get a good night sleep.

Wigwam Motel, United States of America

The Wigwam Motel is a hotel chain with hotels in several USA states. The motels were built during the 1930s and 1940s in Kentucky, Alabama, Arizona, California, Florida, and Louisiana. The motel rooms are made as traditional Native American tipis, commonly referred to as wigwams.

Ariau Amazon Towers, Manaus, Brazil

The Ariau Amazon Towers Hotel is located in the middle of the jungle and it often serves as base hotel for travelers exploring the Amazon rainforest. The hotel design fits perfectly in the green surroundings as its totally made of natural materials and colored appropriately.

Nhow Berlin Hotel

The Nhow Berlin hotel is a unique hotel with ultra-modern design, which is totally dedicated to all kinds of music. Depending on the type of music you like, you can choose a room with guitars, pianos, DJ sets, etc. On top of that, the Nhow hotel is situated in one of the most hip parts of German capital.

Yunak Evleri, Cappadocia, Turkey

Yunak Evleri Hotel is a cave structure, with some of its rooms dating back to the 5th century. Despite the century-old structure, the Yunak Evleri is a 4-star luxury hotel. The rooms are equipped with wi-fi, flat-screen TVs, etc. The caves are carved in the cliff in the Goreme national park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Kokopelli’s Cave, New Mexico, United States

Another cave hotel on our list, the Kokopelli’s Cave is a manmade structure, which operates from March until November. This is a luxury Bed & Breakfast hotel, located near the city of Farmington in New Mexico. The rooms of this hotel are actually caves, carved into the Tertiary Ojo Alamo sandstone.

Tree House Hotel in Germany

The official name of the tree house hotel in Germany is the Resort Baumgeflüster. It is located in the town Bad Zwischenahn near the city of Oldenburg in Northwestern area of Germany, between Hamburg and the border with the Netherlands. The resort is actually made of a number of tree houses as its name implies. The bungalows are made of wood and are positioned on treetops, in the middle of the forest.

Galactic Suite Design, Cosmos

Finally, the most interesting hotel on Earth is actually not on Earth, or shouldn’t be. The Galactic Suite Design is not yet launched, but is planned to be the first hotel in a space station. The mini space station should orbit the Earth in low orbit and the launch of the rocket taking it there is yet to be confirmed. So far, several launch dates have been canceled, the last one in the summer 2015, but the company based in Barcelona still believes that space tourism is possible. They reckon the first flight will happen in the next couple of years.
